Description

Gladiolus- Orange Sun

Gladiolus x hortulanus

Synonyms: Gladiolus grandiflorus

NOT TO TAS, WA

  • Perennial to 150cm
  • Large, vibrant orange flowers
  • Adds height to borders

Herbaceous perennial growing to 120-150cm with thin green upright leaves and showy spikes of large, vibrant orange flowers. The apricot coloured petals are edged with dark orange, and the lower petals are blushed with yellow towards the centre.

Gladioli are tough, economical, reliable corms that can be planted in all climates. The tall flower spikes provide vertical accents in gardens, blooming in spring in warm climates and in summer in cool regions. Plant in drifts or clumps of 5-7 corms in borders and beds, cottage gardens or en masse. An excellent cut flower picked when the first bud on a flower spike opens. Plant in succession every 4 weeks for continuous flowers. Also known as 'Sword Lilies'.
