- Small upright tree to 6m
- Large flowers and gumnuts
- Suited to small gardens
A small tree growing to 6m with grey-green leaves and upright branches. The juvenile leaves are green and rounded, while the adult leaves are lanceolate and up to 10cm long. Large pink or red flowers appear in autumn and winter and are followed by ornamental gumnuts. The stems, flower buds and gumnuts may be covered with a powdery white powder, giving the plant a silvery appearance. The ornamental 'minni ritchi' bark is reddish brown, continuously peeling and curling to expose the lighter coloured bark on the trunk.
A slender tree suited to small gardens. Use as a feature tree in a native garden, as a single specimen or in a group of 3-5 trees. Attracts birds.
Gungurru is a 'mallee' eucalyptus, meaning that it has a lignotuber (a woody growth just below ground level). It is shorter than its relative, Eucalyptus 'Silver Princess', with more upright branches and smaller buds and flowers.
Native to the area east of Perth in Western Australia. Also known as 'Gungurra' or 'Gungunnu Gungunnu'.
*Exact seed count per packet is hard to determine as seeds are mixed with chaff and very difficult to tell apart. Sow seeds and chaff together.
Note: Seeds of many native plants are dormant and will not germinate until ideal environmental conditions are met. Follow instructions for pre-treatment and sowing, and be patient; some wild harvested seeds can take much longer to germinate than expected.
